Locked in and locked down, as we all were back then; snapping away with my phone, but never quite catching her.
And at the time, I didn’t think much of it. Because how could I forget her? How could I possibly forget?
But as the months crept by, she grew up, and grew away. Lost in a half-remembered haze- how small she was, how she fit against me. How her fingers would tangle in my hair.
And now my mind reaches back, and all I find are fragments.
The details I wish I’d kept safe, the things I’d want captured. How I’d feel if those moments were mine.
